These garments are often visibly branded with a corporate or team logo, the individual player’s sponsor’s insignia, and equally notably - in the case of famous, big brand manufacturers of this item of clothing, the self-same manufacturer’s brand, two of the most recognisable being the Lacoste alligator/crocodile, and the Polo pony.

 

Both these big brands are exclusive, expensive and sought-after, sometimes as status symbols, suggesting that the wearer is wealthy and able to afford famous brand leisurewear. Prompted by greed and the prospect of “easy” money, the sportswear market is sullied by counterfeit copies of original manufacturers’ goods, with fake logos affixed onto inferior shirts and other apparel.

 

Nefarious traders attempt to sell these fake goods to trusting customers at high, inflated prices, claiming that articles are genuine branded products. Buyers should beware and be aware.
