Golf Shirts for Southern Africa’s Corporate Sector
Because the rules and regulations which cover the great gentlemen’s (and now ladies’) game of golf are longstanding, relatively strictly enforced and certainly complied with by all who step onto a golf course with a set of clubs, golf shirts are distinctive and instantly recognisable to those who have some knowledge of the sport.
Golf versus T-Shirts
Unless you’ve taken note or you’re a golfer yourself, you may confuse a golf shirt with a T-shirt. It is essential that one wear an actual golf shirt when going onto the course. If you arrive wearing a T-shirt, you will not be granted access to the green.
A T-shirt is made of a cotton-rich, jersey knit, stretchy and flexible material with a fine, closely woven texture. It has long or short sleeves and a round or crew neck, usually without buttons, although T-shirts of the once fashionable "grandpa” variety featured a buttoned-neck opening. V-neck options are available, but the original style is most popular.
The weave or knit of a golf shirt is coarser and looser, so the material has a more pronounced texture. It is also flexible and stretchy, fairly loose fitting, thus ensuring that the player is not restricted in the complex upper- to mid-body movements required by the game.
Sleeves may be long or short, but a small buttoned neckline slit, topped by a collar, is essential and non-negotiable. These elements define a golf shirt. A pocket is sometimes featured on the chest area of the shirt, but this isn’t a firm requirement.
Golf Shirt Branding
Like other sportswear, golf shirts are typically branded on the chest area, although the area on the back of the top, across the shoulder blades, carries prominent team logos in certain disciplines.
If a pocket is present on a golf shirt, branding will normally be done on the upper edge of the pocket, which is usually removed for the branding process to take place more accurately, and then reattached thereafter.
Other than the manufacturer or fashion house’s patented logo, various other types of branding are also done in order to customise golf shirts.
·Corporate branding – company logo and/or name
·Team logo/name
·School, university or club emblem and name
·Regional, provincial or national team insignia
·Charity or organisation’s logo
Types of Preferred Corporate Branding
Many of our corporate clients who order golf shirts and have them branded, prefer our specialised branding teams to embroider their corporate emblem, rather than printing it on the fabric. Embroidery imparts an additional dimension and an enduring, bright and textured appearance to the logo, which makes it more prominent, in the opinion of some.
Nevertheless, hawse have the expertise, skills and equipment to execute many and varied branding options, and do so to perfection, regardless of how complex your branding requirements and specifications may be.
Value of Branded Golf Shirts as Corporate Gifts
·Golf shirts are excellent corporate gifts, and are valued and appreciated by recipients who are golfers and non-golfers alike.
·These garments are as comfortable to wear as are T-shirts, but they are far neater and smarter than T-shirts, and can confidently be worn to more public places than their more casual counterparts.
·Unisex garments – golf shirts may be worn by males and females alike, providing the correct size has been selected.
·Excellent opportunity to network and promote one’s company, products, services and corporate image amongst other corporate decision makers and executives, many of whom play golf whenever possible.
·Build and improve business and customer relationships.
·Effective, free advertising opportunity.
·Everyone wearing your corporate branded golf shirt is a virtual, valued brand ambassador for your concern and its endeavours.
