Protective Clothing Suppliers in Pretoria for Premium Quality Merchandise

In the company of more than 200 valued members of staff, plus our management team, we at XCO Group, Pretoria-based supplier of protective clothingand a great deal more - look forward to sharing a few possibilities, probabilities and certainties that may or definitely do have a bearing on our role as a leading wholesale supplier of our extensive ranges of merchandise. Here, the emphasis is on protective clothing.

Personal Protective Clothing

Hair Loss

When viewed from the perspective of nature’s bigger picture, Homo sapiens – human beings, are but one species of Planet Earth’s vast number of mammals, which began evolving over a period of countless millennia. Humans evolved from primates, great apes that gradually developed advanced intelligence and a large brain. Man also adopted a bipedal stance and eventually, he shed most of his species’ fur or body hair.

Protection from the Elements

Any type of applied body apparel or covering may be said to be protective, per se. As homo sapiens evolved and gradually shed the most of the fur or body hair that formerly protected his person, he needed other measures to save his body from harm and discomfort, caused by the elements, extreme climatic conditions, unfavourable weather manifestations, such as wind, rain, heat and cold.

Earliest Protective Clothing

One may safely assume that prehistoric, early protective clothing consisted of animal skins and furs, with which to replace man’s lost hair, since he was now comparatively naked, devoid of his own, permanently attached pelt. Mother Nature was the supplier.

The invention, evolution and supply of actual, manmade clothing was eons away, somewhere in a distant future, far beyond the intellectual capacity of prehistoric beings. These unsophisticated, primitive creatures existed almost exclusively in the moment.

The Naked Ape

In 1967, author, zoologist and ethologist, Desmond Morris, published his first book, The Naked Ape. (Ethology is the scientific study of animals’ behaviour, focused on animals’ abilities to adapt and evolve). This happened to be a mere 20 years before we established our first business enterprise, a retail store in Pretoria, the venue and its location from which we supplied specialised sports clothing to customers from within Pretoria and to wherever else similar supply was requested.

Morris’s book highlights humans as a species, which he compares with other animal species. His publication thus doesn’t completely depart from Charles Darwin’s ground-breaking and initially highly contentious, scientific publication of On the Origin of Species, which introduced his Theory of Evolution.

At the time, this was a concept that caused a worldwide furore, when introduced in 1859. Nonetheless, Darwin’s and Morris’s studies are similar in various aspects, and the overall link is clearly evident.

At XCO Group in Pretoria, unlike the species from which we evolved, we don’t thump our collective chests or bear primate-inspired teeth. We simply share a few perspectives, some light-hearted, others serious, very much focused on the need for, use and acquisition of your supply of modern, effective and branded protective clothing, which may be done online, simply by getting in touch with our XCO Group’s head office in Pretoria.

Protection x 3

To this end, we’ve divided the products that safeguard personnel into three fundamental categories – Essential Products, which, as such, relates directly to the outbreak and on-going presence and threat of the dreaded COVID 19 pandemic, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Personal Protective Clothing PPC).

These categories plus product illustrations and information that pertain to each are listed under our website’s Workwear banner. All the relevant clothing and merchandise we supply from our XCO Pretoria premises are designed to safeguard people and their normal, everyday garments, which they routinely wear to work. Types of such apparel include::

·         Disposable wear – for disposal after one-off use, to prevent possible contamination

·         Dust coats and aprons – keeps dirt and dust off own garments

·         Hospitality and chef wear – prevents burns, splashes and stains

·         Overalls and conti suits – supplied for heavy-duty use

·         Security wear – distinguishes security services

·         Rain and freezer wear – to keep the body dry and relatively warm

·         High visibility and reflective vests – helps to ensure that wearers are visible

The scope and nature of their occupations and workplace duties have the potential to cause injury, damage, or worse, to persons and their own attire. Consequently, most personal protective products are worn over “normal” clothing, as the final layer of outer wear, thereby shielding people and personal property.

It’s wise to ensure that your people and their property are effectively protected with appropriate clothing, supplied by Pretoria’s XCO Group.
